Emily's letter to Drums Along The Mohawk:
At eighteen, I showed up to my first drums corps camp. I went for the experience not thinking I was going to get a contract since I’d never even done marching band before! Well, here I am, about to move into my fourth and final year with 7th Regiment. My first year at 7th was something that was super special to me. Nothing beats the thrill of performing and traveling every night for the first time. It was truly magical ... As the years went on that magical feeling started to fade into something different ... I was faced with new challenges ... this year I decided to take a step back from it all ... This is my age out year and now it is my job to help make the corps magical for all the new members. It is my job to teach them what it means to be a part of the 7th Regiment family. I want to be an example to the new members of what it truly means to wear the uniform and the corps necklace. If everyone is posting online in September about what an amazing summer they had, I will know I helped create the same magic of drums corps that I got to feel.
Recommendation: Rachel Rubino, Brass Caption Head – 7th Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps
I have gotten to know Emily as her brass technician and brass manager at 7th Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps. Emily is a four year veteran member and soon to be age-out of the 7th Regiment brass line…. I have been most impressed by her attitude on and off the field. Emily leads by example with compassion, humor, and an upbeat demeanor no matter the circumstances. Emily’s work ethic is impressive ... She is an integral part of our drum corps family and her hard work and dedication make her an incredible asset to our program.
