Genesis Group Honors Drums Along the Mohawk with Joseph Carucci Legacy Award

Rome, NY-Drums Along the Mohawk drum and bugle corp show is among area organizations and community leaders recently recognized with the Joseph R. Carucci Legacy Award at The Genesis Group of the Mohawk Valley Region's annual meeting and luncheon, according to an announcement from the community-based organization.
The award winners were honored at the Groups annual meeting and luncheon held on Oct. 27 at the Hotel Utica in Utica, NY.
Several members of the Drums Along the Mohawk committee attended and accepted the award on behalf of the show and the young musicians who annually perform during Drums Corps International's Summer Tour at Rome Free Academy Stadium in Rome.
Cluadette Wire, director of the show, said, "Drums Along the Mohawk is a team effort and has been for 38 years! We know we are an important event to our drum corps fans, but it is great to be recognized by a community organization such as The Genesis Group of the Mohawk Valley Region".
Among other recipients of the Joseph R. Carucci Legacy Award are Gary Scalzo, president of Scalzo, Zogby & Witting, Inc.; Andria Heath, executive director of the Utica Zoo; Remington Arms Co.; Dietra Harvey, community leader; and Maj. Francis Coots, commander of State Police Trooop D.
The Genesis Group of the Mohawk Valley Region is a civic organization that seeks to unite business and community leaders working to advance regional economic, social and cultural interests, the organization's announcement said, adding the group also seeks to foster unity and cooperation in the region.
